State of Wisconsin Investment Board Discloses $1.3B in Alternative Investments Made in Q2

The State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) has disclosed alternative investments totaling up to $1.3 billion in Q2, according to meeting materials from the September 14 board meeting. 

Private Credit

$50 million was committed to opportunistic credit fund, Ares Special Opportunities Fund II. $100 million was committed to opportunistic fund, Blackstone Tactical Opportunities IV. $100 million was committed to opportunistic fund, Glendon Opportunities Fund III, managed by Glendon Capital Management.

Private Equity

In private equity, $150 million was committed to buyout fund, EQT IX. $65 million was committed to buyout fund, Hg Genesis 10. $50 million was allocated to Sterling Foundation Fund I, a buyout fund managed by The Sterling Group. $50 million was committed to Varsity Healthcare Partners Fund IV. VHP focuses on lower middle-market healthcare private equity investments. $37 million was committed to Water Street Partners V, a buyout fund focused on healthcare private equity investments.

Real Estate

Real estate investments included a $150 million was committed to core plus fund, RREEF Core Plus Industrial Fund, managed by RREEF Property Trust. $26 million was committed to Realterm Airport Logistics Properties, a value-add real estate fund. $25 million was committed to Wilson HCF Wisconsin Holdings 8, a core real estate fund managed by Heitman. $25 million was committed to opportunistic fund, Blackstone Real Estate Partners X. $50 million was committed to Gateway Real Estate Fund VII, an opportunistic real estate fund managed by Gaw Capital. $50 million was committed to AG Asia Realty Fund V, a value-add real estate fund managed by Angelo Gordon. $100 million was committed to core real estate fund, Rockwood Multifamily Partners.

SWIB, the $130 million Investment Board, manages assets for the Wisconsin Retirement System, the State Investment Fund, and other state trust funds.
