Our Team
Practitioners, operators, and capital raisers — running the same playbook every day, raising capital for the world's best investment managers.

Senior capital raising professionals on our team
At Dakota, culture isn't declared — it's demonstrated. These are the values that define how we show up every day for our partners and each other.
We don't sugarcoat and we don't wound. Feedback is direct because we respect each other enough to tell the truth, and delivered with care because we want people to grow.
When you need help, ask for it. When someone else needs help, give it freely. Hoarding knowledge isn't how we operate. Teamwork is a performance multiplier here.
The Dakota Way is our north star. We hold ourselves and each other accountable to focusing every day on the activities that actually move the needle for our partners.
When someone wins, we make noise about it. Recognition isn't an afterthought — it's built into how we operate, because the best teams know how to cheer for each other.

Founder & CEO
Gui Costin founded Dakota in 2006 after nearly two decades in investment sales, including roles at Turner Investments and Cramer Rosenthal McGlynn. From the frustration of watching great salespeople fail not from lack of talent but from lack of process, Gui built The Dakota Way — a codified, four-principle sales framework that has since become the operating system for how Dakota raises capital and how thousands of investment sales professionals think about their careers.
Under Gui's leadership, Dakota has raised and retained over $40 billion for partner managers, built one of the most comprehensive LP/GP and RIA databases in the industry, and grown from a two-person shop to a platform serving thousands of institutional fundraisers. He is the author of The Dakota Way and Be Kind, and hosts multiple programs on leadership, sales, and the investment industry.
